to Bama was completely worth it. All the way from San Jose, California. She had a terrific outing tonight, 9.775 on beam and bars. We thought she was underscored but we are admittedly biased.

Alabama will go for title #6 against some formidable competition. Georgia is the favorite and Florida hit 197.325 tonight in Gainesville against Utah (196.650), so it looks like they have the best chance to knock off the Dawgs next to the Tide.

Miles is now up; she opens with a beautiful double layout; front-front full to front layout; terrific control on that landing; the arena is clapping now to her routine in unison; Foxy Lady! final dance moves; she finishes with a double pike and she's crying already as she completes her final dance moves and then salutes Gail Tourtellotte, who scores her a 9.95 while Evelyn gives the 10. It was easily one of her best of all time but Gail likely took about .05 for the slight shuffle back on the landing of the double layout.

flight series, wolf 3/4 shows a little balance check; punch front to wolf not completely connected; dismounts with the double twist and sticks the landing.

Mel Banville nails the opening pass of a pike full in but has form problems on the second pass of the front-front full to front layout; she sticks the final double pike. Not sure how the judges will judge this routine.

Next pass is critical - whip-whip-bhs-double pike - nails it! Beautiful switch leap to switch full; double cat leap; finishes with a front through to a double full - unfortunately she does a barani half tuck out of the front and this will be a major deduction. It just did not feel right, so she did the right thing to bail the last elements on that final tumbling pass.

Mills has a 9.675 on the beam. Puckett is looking strong so far but has to take a big step forward on the double tuck dismount, chest down as well.

She opens with a bhs-bhs-layout stepout, slight shoulder shift to the right; beautiful amplitude and flexibility on her straddle jump combination out of a switch leap; glitches a bit on her front aerial; round off to 1 1/2, off center, step to the right and back.

She opens with a super double front Arabian, not as crisp as last week but she stands it up; second pass is better this week, 2 1/2 twist to a punch front, one step forward to balance; she finishes with a double pike, nails the landing Romanian style! The crowd is on their feet.

Cassie Martin hits her routine for a 9.75, step forward on the double tuck dismount. Toe on toe off to Tkatchev to pak Salto combination looked terrific.

bars, goes for that stick on the landing of the double layout, chest forward and bent to maintain that stick. She receives a 9.75 final score. The judges (Brock and Gail) are cutting all routines tonight on this event.

She throws a Yurchenko 1/1 and touches down on the landing, so that will be a major deduction. They will look to throw this out if they can hold up the rest of their vaults.

Auburn has a total on bars of 48.375. Bama leads by one full point.

AJ Mills receives a 9.65 and that was a better bars routine than the score indicates (pike Jaeger, double layout dismount). She missed two handstands slightly and took a step on her landing but a 9.65? She had by far the best form of the Tigers, including Dwyer, who received a 9.80. But Dwyer stuck her double layout dismount.
Lenkiewicz throws her Jaeger release almost on top of the bar and almost has to stop but continues and dismounts with a double front, one step forward. She receives a 9.600. Form problems and the rough Jaeger cost her.

over at the head table already complaining. Filetti hits her best vault of the season meanwhile for a 9.90. Magee hits her vault as well for a 9.90 (Y 1/1, one step back).

What an emotional night it will be when the parents and our 2006 seniors are introduced for their final official home competition. We love you Ashley, Dana P., Dana F., Rachael and Mari-Christine! Thanks for the memories: SEC Champions in 2003, 2nd Place at Nationals that same year, 3rd in 2004, 2nd again last year and hopefully, national champs this year! Roll Tide!

season. Spring break started officially at 5 pm today across the state and on the campus of UA, so unless we have a late-arriving crowd, look for under 10,000 as the final tally.

Both teams are pretty healthy at this point of the season. Auburn saw the return of freshman AJ Mills a few weeks ago to their bars and beam line-up after suffering a stress fracture earlier in the year. Alabama will be without Kaitlin White tonight after she tweaked her knee a bit during practice earlier this week on the balance beam. She is expected back for SECs.

Keys to victory: For the Auburn Tigers, they need to avoid having to count a fall on bars to start things off. If they can hit at least five of their routines, that puts pressure on the Tide immediately. Auburn is within striking distance of the Tide on vault and floor and is ahead of the Tide on beam for season average, so the uneven bars could be the definitive event if Bama falters.

For the Crimson Tide, the coaches are looking for that signature regular season meet that starts to define the look of a post-season champion. It hasn't happened to their satisfaction so far despite Bama having a 13-1 record at this point. But will the emotion of tonight's final senior home performance lead to some nervy routines? Time will tell. If Bama hits the way the coaches know they can, look for possibly their highest score of the season.

Humphrey, Rightley, Mari. O'Neal will step out to allow Miles on the beam tonight but will be on the floor. Dana Pierce will exhibit on floor tonight and we just saw Court Priess throw a double pike, nice landing.

Cassie and Mari have started the warm-ups on beam.

Mari has that intense, fierce look of concentration on her face again tonight. It's hard to believe four years have come and almost gone since we first met Mari and her parents on the road in Denver her freshman year, and later on at Lincoln for nationals. They are terrific folks and we'll miss them alot when Mari-Christine finishes up here at the Capstone. Ditto for Danny and Lisa Pierce, Dan and Jean Filetti, Gerry and Nancy Delahoussaye and Sherine Miles.

Senior Dana Pierce is warming up vault and will possibly go in place of Kaitlin White tonight, who had a knee tweak earlier this week during balance beam practice. She is walking around fine and the knee is not wrapped. Ashley O'Neal will also possibly be inserted for White and hit some nice front pike 1/2 twist vaults.
