2014 SECs Play-by-Play

Alabama – SEC Champions – #8

Alabama will find out on Monday around 2 pm CST where they will be heading for Regionals – it could be University of Washington, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Minnesota, Penn State or Athens, Georgia.  One of the first four is more likely.

We will be back in two weeks right here providing all the coverage – Roll Tide and goodnight from the BJCC in Birmingham!

Katie Bailey – great handstands, right on top of the bar, sticks the double tuck flyaway out of a full twist on top of the bar – nice toe shoot straddle from low to high bar as well.  9.900

Sarah DeMeo – nails her routine! Crowd is on its feet!  9.925

Aja Sims – Weiler kip – double layout dismount – crowd wants it tonight! 9.950

Kim Jacob – Ray release looks great – short on the final handstand – but nails the double layout chest high! 9.900

Georgia has problems on the beam with Rogers falling. Earls finishes strong for the Bulldogs.

LSU finishes strong on vault but it’s not enough. 49.525

Florida has strong routines from Sloan and Hunter but Bridgette Caquatto steps out on her last pass for a 9.750. 49.350 team total.

Katie Bailey – Arabian 1/2 – small hop forward on landing – great form in the air – well-centered.

Sarah DeMeo – Y 1/1 – there’s the stick! 9.900

Kim Jacob – Y 1.5 – sticks it but leg split on entry. 9.900

Lauren Beers – Y 1/1 – another stick from the Tide – 9.900

Georgia gets the big scores from the judges on uneven bars – 49.700  – they are now at a 148.100

LSU - on floor – decent scores – Savona with a 9.900, Courville with a 9.850, Hall finishing up with a 9.950  – 49.350 –  now at 147.800

Florida - on beam – scores a 49.350 – 148.350 as a team

 

Rotation 2: UF: 99.00, UA: 98.700, LSU: 98.450, UGA: 98.400

Alabama is in a great place but must stick the vault landings – judges have loosened up on this event.  They have to get their highest score possible, as Georgia is on their best event and will score comparably to Florida, while LSU is moving to their final two “best” events as well, floor this rotation and vault to finish.

Alabama – Floor Exercise – 49.425

Lora Leigh Frost – double layout to open – crowd roars as she stands it up with a huge smile – punch front 1/1 to front layout – seat drop with a sassy smile for the judge – stumble step back on the closing double pike but stays in bounds.  9.750

Amanda Jetter – double front Arabian to open – step forward – 1.5 through to a 1.5 – solid –  9.850

Katie Bailey – double front Arabian to open – controlled step forward – punch front layout to 1/1 – Rudi to close -9.825

Lauren Beers – double layout to open and a double tuck to close out – crowd loving it! 9.900

Kim Jacob – super routine from our super senior – crushed the opening pike full in and the second pass of the double pike – 1.5 through to a 1/1 to close out. 9.900

Diandra Milliner – step back on the landing of her double front Arabian – second pass is solid – finishes with a double pike – final routine of this rotation – all eyes on her – she nails the double pike – crowd on their feet – 9.950

LSU - trouble on the beam – but did not have to count the fall from Jordan – 49.100

Georgia – crushed the vault – 49.450 – 9.975 from Lauren Johnson is their highest score.

Florida – crushed the bars as well – 49.625 – 9.95 scores for Caquatto and Johnson
